The advantage of MSM is that it is possible to manipulate the tracks in post production just like in normal MS, with additional control of surround channels. While there are analog devices which wil preform this task, it is possible to use Nuendo to do the processing.

We need to open 7 tracks in Nuendo. Each of them is receiving the output of a single microphone, but the same microphone will feed more than one track (except backward cardioid mic). Then each track will be routed to the 5.0 buss in Nuendo.

Additionaly to main 5.0 output buss two child busses must be created also: stereo buss (L and R) and surround bus (LS and RS). This is to simplify routing and to keep the number of reqired tracks low. Tracks which go to child busses will have pan in the center position. The two pairs of fig of 8 tracks, track 3&4 and 5&6 respectively, have faders linked.

The tracks should look like this:
