MSM recording (or Double MS, as it is also called) is a convenient way to record 5.0 surround with just 3 microphones. If an directional microphone facing backwards is added to an MS setup we can extract surround information also.
MSM setup is very small and well suited for location recording.
SCHOEPS makes an MSM support which can hold all three microphones (WSR DMS LU). A windshield is also available. Microphones have side pickup so that near perfect coincident mounting is possible. The microphones were supplied by the company AVITECH from Vienna.
