I'm currently working on a mc06 analog surround monitor controller.
It is a small 125 mm wide x 215 mm deep remote and 1HE main unit. It's main purpose is music mixing with Nuendo.
This controller is what I need but could not find it on the market. I like the Crane Song Avocet very much but cannot afford $6000 for surround version, nor I have the 6HE rack space available.
It is processor controlled but still completely analog. There are no VCA's, DCA's or similar.
TQ Relays are used (over 50 of them) for all audio switching and for level control also.
Level can be adjusted in 1 dB steps from 0 to -63 dB of attenuation. Level offsets can be stored for each input, stereo or surround, and dim level can be also adjusted using only relay controlled level chain, without any additional circuitry.
Only Mono and Submixing do insert additional amplifier stages.
It is intentionally limited to 5.1 and there is no LCRS option.
Also there is no downmix as I beleive that this is of no purpose in music mixing.
There is provision for a second pair of speakers (stereo) and Talkback. Talkback mic connects into the XLR connector on the main unit.
There are no menues and each switch performs a single function.
